The Millay Colony for the Arts, one of the longest-running artist residency programs in the world is delighted to announce a name change, new logo and website in advance of its 50th anniversary in 2023 with a year-long calendar of celebratory events and activities.
“This momentous decision makes clear the commitment we have to our community of creators and their needs. By responding to an ever-changing world, we ensure that Millay Arts’ dynamic multidisciplinary artist residency programs continue to evolve,” said Monika Burczyk, Co-Director and Manager of External Affairs. “Early on in the pandemic we utilized our unique facility and secluded setting so that we could continue to invite residents to Steepletop while keeping everyone safe, including our rural neighbors. The grateful and enthusiastic responses by our 2020 alumni refueled our own passionate belief in the importance of time and space for creators to do what they do best: create. Reflecting this, it seems both timely and appropriate to refresh our public-facing appearance to emphasize our intent. Over the next decade, Millay Arts will strengthen and expand its community-based residencies and partnerships with other organizations and institutions to ensure inclusivity and serve a range of audiences in the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires.”
Virginia M. Sheridan, Board member and Managing Partner of Finn Partners in New York City states: “We are thrilled by this new initiative that allows us to communicate the profound mission and vision of Millay Arts more fully. Vincent would be proud!”
