We are so grateful to the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation for selecting us as a 2026 Frankenthaler Climate Initiative awardee, providing crucial support for enhancements to our wonderful Main House building, ensuring sustainability and allowing us to fully steward this land we have called home for 53 years.

In collaboration with Environmental Culture Partners, this initiative is the first grantmaking program of its kind that catalyzes energy efficiency at visual arts organizations.

(This award is our second, in 2024 we received a Climate Initiative Award for our Historic Barn, which is now equipped with a heat pump and solar panels!)

A few fun facts about our Main House: it was designed by the wonderful architect/artist Michael Singer, who was based in Vermont, and funded by a grant from the MacArthur Foundation.

This gorgeous piece of architecture in all of its Usonian glory, sits perfectly at the top of the hill, with a view to the meadows, woods, mountains (and our historic Barn) in the distance.

As an early example of Universal Design, it is fully ADA-compliant and houses three bedrooms and three studios; the Speinson Suite features an additional bedroom for those needing physical assistance.)
