Ryan is a writer completing a memoir about his late mother’s shooting. This past summer, an excerpt of the memoir, “The Bullet in My Mother’s Head” was published as a feature in Esquire magazine. In May of 2024, Ryan graduated from Columbia University with a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Nonfiction. Enthused by the craft and the community of writers in an MFA program, he immediately began another degree at NYU with their Paris Low-Residency Creative Writing cohort. In March 2025, Ryan published through Interview Magazine, an essay placed in the Los Angeles Times.
