Peter Barrickman lives and works in Milwaukee. He received his BFA from University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and an MFA from the Milton Avery School of the Arts at Bard College. He is represented by The Green Gallery in Milwaukee.
His work has been shown at The Whitney Museum of American Art and The Swiss Institute New York, New York; 356 Mission Road, Los Angeles, California; Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, Illinois; The Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit, Michigan; Crisp London and The Tate Modern, London; John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Sheboygan, Wisconsin; Elmhurst Art Museum, Illinois; Ulrich Museum of Art in Wichita, Kansas; Milwaukee Art Museum and INOVA in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; The Poor Farm in Manawa, Wisconsin; Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, Georgia; Tanzschuleprojects, Munich; and Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. In 2010, he was awarded the Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowship for Individual Artists. He has also been awarded residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture and CentralTrak. His work has been written about in ArtForum, Art Papers, Art in America, The New Republic, and The New York Times.
