Noemi Escandell was a poet born in Havana, Cuba. Escandell received a BA in Literature from the Institute de la Vibora in Havana, a BA from Queens College, City University of New York, an MA and PhD from Harvard University. Escandell taught at Queens College, Harvard University, Vassar College, Marist College, and Bard College. Escandell published Palabras/Words (Slusa, 1986), Ciclos (Ed. Gahe, 1982), and Cuadros (Slusa, 1982). Escandell was an Artist-in-Residence at Fundación Valparaíso in 2004.
