Trumpeter and composer Michael has earned acclaim for his “unique compositional and instrumental voice” (Friedrich Kunzmann, All About Jazz) and his “endlessly renewable strain of lyric improvisation regardless of context or material” (Peter Margasak, Downbeat Magazine). Born in Toronto and raised in Buenos Aires, Michael’s diverse background and international upbringing have deeply informed his musical expression. In 2012, he moved to New York City, where he has since developed a distinctive career that spans a wide range of musical genres and collaborations.

Michael’s career has seen him perform on some of the most iconic stages around the world, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Yankee Stadium, the Kennedy Center, and Teatro Colón, as well as at high-profile events like Lollapalooza, the Houston Rodeo, and Rock in Rio. In New York City, he has graced venues such as the Blue Note Jazz Club, Jazz at Lincoln Center, BRIC JazzFest, The Beacon Theater, Barclays Center, and Central Park SummerStage. His performances have also been featured on platforms like WNYC’s Soundcheck with John Schaefer and NPR’s World Cafe.

Michael has released three albums with his quartet. His discography spans multiple genres, from several free jazz releases on 577Records to electronic avant-garde music. In 2023 and 2024, Michael toured the globe as part of the Jonas Brothers’ The Tour, performing at prestigious venues such as Wrigley Field, Dodgers Stadium, and the 02 Arena in London. He has also shared the stage with artists such as Michael Bublé, Jon Bellion, and Kirk Franklin. Michael’s accomplishments also include being a semi-finalist at the prestigious DCJazzPrix in 2020, 2023, and 2024.
