Born in Carmel, California Michael is an American artist celebrated for his vibrant, eclectic paintings and mixed media works that mix elements of popular culture, abstraction, graffiti collage , graphic design and data moshing. He studied at the Cambridge College of art and technology and Long Beach State University in California. His artistic approach situations him at the intersection of high and low culture -drawing from fashion, literature, and urban life to construct layered, visually dynamic canvases that are both playful and intelectually challenging. Over a career spanning more than three decades He has had numerous solo shows in New York, Beijing, Paris, Denmark, Italy p, Japan, Spain and Korea. His work has also been included in various museum exhibitions as Louisiana Museum, Palais de Tokyo, Monterey Museum, Deste Athens m and Amore Pacific in Korea. His work is held in the collection of over 12 museums to include SFMOMA, the Whitney, Louisiana Museum Denmark, Dallas Museum and Astrup Fearnley in Oslo.
