For more than four decades, Aldwyth has produced her art in relative seclusion from the larger art world. She lives and works in an octagonal house on the edge of a salt marsh on one of South Carolina’s sea islands, where she creates astonishingly complex collages and assemblages that recall the fantastical intricacies of Hieronymus Bosch.

Aldwyth is the recipient of the Eben Demarest Award, and the South Carolina Governor’s Award for the Arts. She has been nominated for a United States Artist Fellowship as well as an Anonymous Was a Woman Award. She has participated in residencies at the Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, South Carolina; the Cassilhaus Residency; the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art; Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Kohler Arts and Industry; and the Vermont Studio Center.
