Mariana Romo-Carmona is a Nuyorquina writer, born in Chile. She has a PhD in Latin American, Iberian, and Latinx Culture. She taught Creative Writing, Spanish, and Comparative Literature for many years, including the Goddard College MFA, and was Adjunct Associate Professor in the Latin American & Latinx Studies Program at City College, CUNY.

She is the author of the novel Living at Night, the fiction collection Speaking Like an Immigrant, the poetry collection Sobrevivir y otros complejos, and the nonfiction Conversaciones, Lambda Book Award 2002. A longtime activist in the Latinx and Queer BIPOC fronts, she was an editor with Kitchen Table Press and Conditions Feminist Journal. She co-edited Cuentos: Stories by Latinas, and co-founded COLORLife! Magazine, and Escritorial Press.
