Juyi Mao is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work intersects new media art, critical theory, and cinema studies. In 2024, his work was showcased at the B3 Festival of the Moving Image, the Beijing International Short Film Festival, and the Hungarian Experimental Film Festival. He has received grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, United States Artists, the New York Foundation for the Arts, Queens Council on the Arts, and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. His residencies include MacDowell, Vermont Studio Center, NARS Foundation, and Franconia Sculpture Park. During his time at Millay Arts, Mao produced a series of multi-channel video works. He also began the sound recording and Foley design for his ongoing piece, Tell It to Spring.
