John Belluso (November 13, 1969–February 10, 2006) was an American playwright best known for his works focusing on the lives of disabled people. Writing from personal experience, John wrote plays that didn’t glamorize or oversimplify the reality of living with a disability, but also managed to remind us of the exceptional capabilities of disabled people. Selected works include The Rules of Charity, Gretty Good Time, Travelling Skin, Henry Flamethrowa, A Nervous Smile. He also directed the Forum’s Other Voices program for writers with a disability. He completed both Bachelors and Masters degrees at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Dramatic Writing program.
