Journalist, writer and teacher Jennifer Mattson has taught essay writing at New York University’s School of Professional Studies since 2014. Jennifer graduated with a B.A. in English, with Honors, from the University of Michigan inAnn Arbor, with an undergraduate thesis on the non-linear writing techniques of Virginia Woolf. After college graduation, she moved to Budapest, Hungary, where she worked as astringer, writing for USA Today, and secured a fellowship working at Radio Bridge on the first English-language radio program in the former Eastern European bloc country, a joint project with National Public Radio. By 1996, she worked as an international news producer at CNN. Her writing and reporting has appeared in The Atlantic, Salon, The Boston Globe, GlobalPost, Ms. Magazine, among others. She writes a wellness column at Psychology Today and co-authored the book 642 Things To Write About Me with other writersfrom the San Francisco Writers Grotto. Over the past two decades, she has taught writing at Emerson College, Grub Street, the 92nd Street Y, the Loft and lectured at Mills College.
