Gustavo Villegas lives and works in Querétaro. He is an artist who has dedicated his career to the expansion of the plastic limits of realistic painting. He is a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (2013-2015) and received the Jóvenes Creadores Grant of the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes, FONCA (2010-2011). He has been selected to participate in different international artistic residencies: The Why Not Place, Religare Art Residency Programme in New Delhi (2011), Djerassi Resident Artists Program in California (2010) and Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada (2008). In Mexico his work was selected for the XI Bienal Monterrey FEMSA (2014) receiving the Premio del Público. He has also won the Acquisition Award at the Bienal Arte Emergente Monterrey (2008) and the first place in the Bienal Nacional Julio Castillo in Querétaro (2008). His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions, in Mexico, India, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, and New York.
