Marie-Ovide (Gina) Dorcely was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and immigrated to Montclair, New Jersey, in the 1970s. A poet, anthropologist, translator, and editor, her work has appeared in Callaloo, Obsidian, Ploughshares, and The Caribbean Writer. The recipient of support from Cave Canem, the Mellon Foundation, and BreadLoaf, Dorcely lives between Massachusetts and New York City.
