Fern Feller’s art studies at Queens College in New York laid the foundation for her career as a make-up artist. Since then, she has brought her skills to television, opera, film and print, most notably, Saturday Night Live, History Channel, A&E Network, Entertainment Tonight/The Insider, and New York City Opera. She received a Daytime Emmy Nomination for Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego? in its 1996–1997 season.
Also a writer, Fern has created more than 160 short-form biographies broadcast on 200+ American and Canadian radio stations. She was a staff writer for Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego?, a history-driven children’s show and The Great American History Quiz, a History Channel production, and A&E’s Biography series. She served as a freelance writer, interviewer, and consultant for the author Hubert Selby, Jr.’s website. Fern has appeared as a featured poet on WBAI radio in New York City. Her work has been published in The Talking Stick; Volume 9 2000 and the November 2003 issue of Portrait, a literary/arts journal.
She is a recipient of a Jerome Foundation Fellowship and a Minnesota Lake Regional Arts Council grant. During her artist-in-education residencies, she designed an innovative curriculum for creative writing at the elementary school level. She was also creator and keynote speaker at a Humanities forum for creativity in Albany, New York’s Sage College.
