Ekaterina is a playwright, art critic, editor and translator based in Moscow, Russia. She was trained as an Art Historian at the Moscow State University. She is the author of numerous articles about contemporary culture and has worked in the media since 2002. She has written scripts for TV documentaries and worked as an editor and deputy editor-in-chief for several international publications in Russia, including ELLE Decoration, Harper’s Bazaar Art and The Art Newspaper. She is currently a deputy editor-in-chief of Art Focus Now, an English-language website focusing on contemporary Russian and Eastern European art and theater. Ekaterina is the author of eight plays Matthew (2019), Incident in the Laundry (2019), The Planet of Strange Bodies (2020), How (Not) to Offend a Partisan (2021), Rock-n-roll for the Cat and the Parrot (2021-2022), I Have No Secrets (2021), What Brings You to Portland? (2023) and Singing in the Freezing Rain (2025). Her plays were translated into English and Estonian, were presented to the public in Russia and USA, and got acclaim at local and international drama competitions. Her play Matthew premiered online in 2020, the production was organized by Moscow’s private Voznesensky Centre. In 2021 the staged reading of the play took place at the Innovative Cultural Centre in Kaluga (Russia) as part of the Tsiolkovsky Fest festival of contemporary art. The play How (Not) to Offend a Partisan was long-listed for the Stories competition for short plays in St.Petersburg, Russia, in 2022. It was translated into Estonian and published by The New Russian-Estonian Magazine in October 2023. The play I Have No Secrets was included in the program of (Anti)Depressed Fest contemporary art festival in Tomsk (Russia), in March 2022. It was long-listed for the Badenweiler international playwriting competition (Germany) in 2022.
