Edna Zapanta-Manlapaz is a Filipina poet, writer, and historian. She is the author of over six books including: Index to Filipino poetry in English, 1905-1950 (1988), Angela Manalang Gloria: A Literary Biography (1993), Our Literary Matriarchs, 1925-1953: Angela Manalang Gloria, Paz M. Latorena, Loreto Paras Sulit, and Paz Marquez Benitez (1996), Six Women Poets: Inter/views with Angela Manalang-Gloria, Trinidad Tarrosa-Subido, Edith Tiempo, Virginia Moreno, Tita Lacambra-Ayala, Ophelia Dimalanta (1996), Austregelina: A Story of Lina Espina Moore’s Life and Selected Works (2000), and Filipino Women Writers in English: Their Story : 1905-2002 (2005). Zapanta-Manlapaz’s scholarship often centers on Philippine literature, specifically Filipina women poets. Zapanta-Manlapaz’s essay on aging was included in the anthology First Draft: Personal Essays By Ten Women (2023). She was a Fulbright Scholar to the United States in 1998–1999, during which time she studied at Wellesley College’s Center for Research on Women.
