“I’m a retired Registered Nurse. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from The City University of New York in January 1978. I served 34 years of dedicated service to the Harlem Community as a Registered Nurse at Harlem Hospital Medical Center. The Hospital where I was born. I began my writing journey upon my retirement in 2011. I am a 2020 NYSCA/NYFA Fellow Artist in Nonfiction Literature. I’m a Hedgebrook Alum of 2019, and VONA alum of 2018. I’m a Bread Loaf katharine Bakeless Nason Scholar in Nonfiction of 2017. I was a finalist for Still I Rise Grant for Black Women Writers in June 2017. My writing has been supported by The Creative Nonfiction Conference (2017) and The Iowa Summer Writing Festival (June 2013) and The Bread Loaf Writers’s Conference (June 2017).”
