The art of painter Chris Anderson addresses the themes of American cultural traditions and life in the contemporary home and neighborhood.

Chris studied visual art in California at Scripps College (BA, 1971) and the Claremont Graduate University (MFA, 1973), in New York at the Pratt Institute of Art, and in Italy, at the Tyler School of Art in Rome.

She has been awarded fellowship grants from National Endowment for the Arts, Foundation for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts (CAPS), Artists Space, Fulbright Commission, as well as residency fellowships from MacDowell, Yaddo, Austrian Chancellery of Art,, VCCA, Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Studio Center, & Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus. Chris has taught at Skidmore College, Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, University of Maryland, Gordon College Orvieto, and as a Fulbright artist, at the Berlin University. Chris’s work has been exhibited all over the world and is on show in over fifty public collections.
