SHOUT-OUT TO RO HABER (Fiction, September 2025) on their documentary “We Are Pat” winning the Special Jury Mention for New Documentary Director from the Tribeca Film Festival in 2025.

Ro was also our 2025 Vincent Prize Fellow, awarded annually to an artist who identifies as trans*/genderqueer, honoring Edna St. Vincent Millay, our maverick founder.

Of their time at Steepletop, Ro offered: “while in residence at Millay, I joyfully took a break from the We Are Pat festival circuit to work on my next piece, a novel called The Almost Island. Millay offered a beautiful respite from the constraints of time, opened up new collaborations and friendships and let me breathe again in this intense political moment. I am so grateful to enjoy Vincent’s legacy and lands and their brilliant stewards. Excited for Millay’s place on the dedication page of my novel.”

These days, Ro is “following We Are Pat around the world on the international festival circuit, next up at the IDFA in Amsterdam and finishing the first draft of The Almost Island while starting work on a screenplay that they describe as “a transmasc roadtrip buddy comedy.”
