Dearest Millay Friends,
All of us at The Millay Colony for the Arts would like to reach out to all the artists and art-lovers who have been at the Millay Colony, who will be at the Millay Colony, who may visit the Colony, or who simply know about us as a place on the landscape. We want to extend a hand, albeit in the virtual sphere for the moment, to connect.
We have always been proud to include brilliant artists from every community in this country, as well as from many other countries, within our family, and that will never change. Ever. We honor our namesake Edna St. Vincent Millay, aka Vincent, and her life and work by re-committing, today, to making our space as welcoming as it can be. We welcome artists of every ethnicity, religious background, sexual orientation, gender, age, income level and ability here. We and our community are enriched by your work, your voice, and your person.
The Millay Colony has been beautified by your work for forty-four years. We would not be who we are without each one of you. And we thank you.
Right now, we would love to hear from any of you who would like to be in touch. We would love your thoughts on how we can extend greater welcome in future; how you might want to be shown that welcome; and whatever else you want to share. We are here. We are listening.
You might want to visit us as a Winter Shaker. We promise you a warm welcome and a space dedicated to everyone’s well-being. In any case, we would love to hear from you.We have our own ideas for ways to expand and enhance the support we provide. You will be hearing more from us about that soon.In the meantime, there is a light in the window. That is us – waiting for you.
Until then, LOVE
The Millay Colony for the Arts
